I want you to hold one word in your mind for a little while: workcation.
Not hustle-in-a-hammock. Not emails-by-the-beach.
But a soulful reset where you can merge work and restoration in a way that honours your nervous system.
Let’s be real, when you’re running your own business, there’s rarely a perfect “off switch.” But there is a sweet spot: a way to create space, breathe deeper, and show up for your work with more joy, even from a sun-drenched balcony or a quiet cottage in the Highlands.
Because the goal isn’t to escape work.
It’s to stop being consumed by it.
Why a Workcation Is the Perfect Thing You’ve Been Searching For
A workcation isn’t deprivation of unplugging — it’s an intentional choice to craft your time.
You do still have client calls (perhaps fewer).
You still check your email (but not compulsively).
And in between? You sleep. You swim. You journal. You let yourself BE.
It’s a middle ground for those of us who can’t take two weeks fully off, yet refuse to keep living in the burnout loop.
I’ve coached women who tried this and came back clearer, calmer, and more connected to what really matters. They weren’t behind — they were energised.
My Tips for a Soulful Workcation
Plan in advance for balance: Schedule work windows out in the mornings or only on some days. Then fiercely protect your off-time.
Automate & delegate: Let tech do the lifting. Out-of-office autoresponder. Social media schedulers. Even email filters.
Set joy anchors: A daily walk at sunset. A long bath. An electronics-free afternoon. Enjoy outings with family or friends. This isn’t about creating time to work, it’s about creating time to be you.
And don’t overcomplicate the destination. Your workcation is that two-hours-from-home cottage or your friend’s empty apartment. It’s about your energy, not scenery.
A Loving Nudge
You can establish a new rhythm.
You don’t need to earn your rest by burning out.
Maybe what your business (and body) needs… isn’t a break.
It’s a reset.
